AT&T makes significant investment in rural America; purchases Alltel assets from Verizon Wireless
On Friday, AT&T announced that it would purchase divestiture properties from Verizon Wireless. The 2.35 billion dollar deal covers wireless properties, including licenses, network assets and 1.5 million subscribers in 79 service markets in mostly rural areas across 18 states including Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
The Coalition for a Connected West believes that this is great news for consumers in its five western states. With this purchase by AT&T, the nation’s two largest cellular companies are competing in rural areas, which will bring better service, better products, and lower prices for rural customers.
