What do you mean by “technology and everyday life?”

Technology is all around us. As a society, technology has changed the way we live, work, and play. Here are some examples:
  • The dangers of cyber-bullying;
  • A public service style announcement on Internet and mobile safety;
  • How you use technology and mobile technology to keep in touch with friends or family;
  • How you are using Twitter/Facebook to market yourself or a company;
  • How you are using technology to earn summer cash;
  • How technology is helping you live a healthier life;
  • How technology is helping you get better grades;
  • How technology has changed your life;
  • How mobile technology enables you to do more;
  • Where you hope mobile technology will take you; or
  • What your life would be like without mobile technology.

 Use your imagination and be creative.

Those sound serious; does my video have to be serious?

No. We want you to have fun and be creative; the tone is really up to you.

Does my video have to be on “technology and everyday life?”

No. Your video can be on any topic you want. We simply used term “technology and everyday life” as a suggestion for those struggling to find a topic. We are after all a technology organization.

So anyone can enter the contest but not everyone can win the scholarship?

Yes. Entrants can be from anywhere, but if they win and do not meet the scholarship qualifications then the scholarship may be awarded to a designated recipient.  For example, a father may submit an entry and designate his daughter as the recipient of the scholarship.  If an entrant is going to designate someone else to receive the scholarship, the designation must be made at the time the video is submitted.

Why is CCW doing this?

CCW is a consumer advocacy and educational organization. What better way to highlight technology than have people use technology to apply for a scholarship. Besides we thought it was cool and different.

Why should I submit a video?

There are two $1000 scholarships that you could have the opportunity to win. You know the old saying “you can’t win if you don’t play.” But hey, your reasons are your reasons.

What sort of video is CCW looking for?

The video can be educational, like a public service announcement;  funny, like a comedy skit; or informational. The possibilities are endless, but the video should be between 15-90 seconds long and submitted through our online form. We want you to have fun with this project, but keep in mind there are two $1000 scholarships at stake.

Who should submit videos?

Anyone who is interested should submit videos. However, the scholarship can only be awarded to an entrant or designee who is eligible to win, and will be sent directly to the educational institution where the winner is enrolled.

How long should my video be?

Videos should be between 15-90 seconds.

How many videos can be submitted?

A: You can submit as many videos as you like; however, keep in mind that during the voting phase your friends will only be able to vote for one video.

What is the deadline for submission?

Deadline to submit your video is August 31, 2009 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time.

When does voting begin?

Voting will begin on September 3, 2009

How can I encourage others to vote for my video?

Well we don’t recommend you put a message in a bottle, but we do recommend you contact all your friends and family and encourage them to visit the CCW website once the voting has begun. Additionally, encourage them to follow CCW on Facebook and Twitter for additional opportunities to vote.

What happens to my video after I submit it?

After you submit your video the CCW staff will review it to ensure that it is appropriate for the competition. On September 3, 2009 all qualifying videos will be posted on the CCW website to be voted on by the public. Please note that the CCW reserves the right to remove videos for any reason.
